Remapping Tradition
Embodied Knowledge of Southeast Asia
Rather than simply preserving traditional dance as cultural heritage, Remapping Tradition explores dance as a living system of embodied knowledge that continues to evolve. Through collaboration with artists and scholars across Southeast Asia, the project documents movement practices, analyses their underlying principles, and translates them into visual and digital forms to create an open-access platform for learning, exchange, and future creation.
Inspired by No. 60, a choreographic methodology developed by Pichet Klunchun, the project uses movement analysis not to standardise traditions, but to reveal the unique logic and potential embedded within each practice.
